In memory of journalist and fiction writer Rin Kelly, her family is offering up to three $350 scholarships in her name to emerging fiction writers for use in enrolling in Writers Grotto fiction classes during the period November 1, 2021, through May 2022.
In keeping with Rin’s writing style, the scholarships will be awarded to writers in the following genres: speculative fiction, magical realism, slipstream, or satire.
Applications for the Rin Kelly Scholarship must be submitted by September 1, 2021. Winners will be announced on her birthday, September 30th. Submissions must include the following: a writing sample of up to 10 pages of fiction along with a 250-word description of the applicant’s writing history, goals, and enrollment in writing courses/programs. In addition, please include a list of publications. Tuition will be awarded through the Writers Grotto.
