Poetry Editor Russell Gonzaga takes to the stage on Friday, September 10

Spreckels Temple of Music

Russell Gonzaga isn’t just The Fabulist Magazine’s poetry editor — he’s also an accomplished slam poet and spoken word artist.

This Friday, if you happen to be in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, stop by the Spreckels Temple of Music bandshell in the Music Concourse (right off the park’s 9th Avenue entrance, at 50 Hagiwara Tea Garden Dr.) to see the man in action.

The occasion is the opening ceremonies of the 18th Annual Architecture + The City Festival, sponsored by the American Institute of Architects. The proceedings begin at noon with an interpretive walk around the Music Concourse’s numerous examples of historic and contemporary architecture, followed by a panel discussion on the park and its built environs.

Russell’s set runs from 3:15 to 4:00 p.m., and will also feature the poet Monica Mody. They’re followed at 4 p.m. by the Sweater Funk DJ crew through 7:00 p.m.
